Our Chorus' 2008 reunion / get together is rapidly
approaching and we hope you will come to Minneapolis, Minnesota
and join us for a few days of friendship, music, memories - old
and new.
The Twin Cities this year are hosts to three huge national
events: The American Legion National Convention and the
Republican Party National Convention, and our Chorus reunion.
You see, people are already flocking to the Twin Cities.. you
just gotta join them.
Seriously, we have heard from many who plan to attend; but not
from some of you who wait for the last minute or who secretly
show up, unannounced. It would be much better if we can hear
from those who plan to be here.. so we can better prepare.
This year's hosts are Neal and Hope Kurtz, who live in South
Minneapolis with their large, wonderful family. Hope was in our
chorus back in the 80s.. and has attended many of our reunions,
both with, and without, her family. Families are always welcome
to our reunions, as are friends, relatives, guests. This is a
family gathering of chorus members and their loved ones.
To those who have never attended any of our reunions in the
past, make this your first. Its an informal gathering.. and
there is food, drink, music and fun. We also rehearse a bit and
put on a show for local veterans who live in a VA home for old
servicemen and women. These are folks who, like us, served their
country.. and many suffer from ailing health and are very
appreciative of visits from groups such as ours. Its fun
performing for them and we have never had anyone complain or
walk out on our concerts. After
we usually spend a little time with the Vets and listen to their
stories. I've met many wonderful, brave old men and women at
these events.
To those flying into the Twin Cities, our airport is MSP and
there are two terminals.. the Hubert H Humphrey terminal (where
Sun Country, Midwest and a few other smaller airlines serve) and
the Charles A Lindbergh terminal (where all the major airlines
fly to).
The Hotel that Hope and Neal chose is a few short miles from the
airport, along Highway 494. Hope lives a few miles from the
hotel.. and our rehearsal site is nearby as well.
The Twin Cities are home to Hiawatha and Minnehaha, Paul Bunyan,
Babe and Ox, the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Timerwolves and much,
much more. Barach Obama gave his acceptance speech here when we
won the Democratic party nomination for President, a few weeks
ago. And there is the Mississippi River (which starts in
Minnesota), the Mall of America, General Mills, Pillsbury and
much, much more.
Hotel Details:
Richfield Inn-Four Points by Sheraton-Airport-MOA
7745 Lyndale Ave So
Richfield, MN 55423
612-861-1000 (Ask for either the United States Army Chorus group
or use the code AC17FA)
The hotel has a restaurant, pool, fitness center, etc. They are
near to the Minneapolis St Paul International Airport (MSP)
and the Mall of America (MOA). They offer shuttles to both of
these locations. The special price for our group is $70 a night,
for 2 Queens or 1 King. Smoking rooms are available. A
continental breakfast is included. They will honor this price
until June 27, 2008, so please.. make your reservations
soon.
Much of the music we generally sing is posted on my old chorus
website:
http://chorus.millman.biz You can download it at your
leisure and hopefully become acquainted with it before the
reunion. Then rehearsals can be shorter and less challenging.
If you are worried that you do not read music or are not up to
World Class standards, all that is fine. We are here to have
fun.. and there are no judges or critics in the audience..
just grateful veterans who are glad for the visit and the
entertainment. Your guests can even join us on stage if they
wish.. We can always use more voices.
We hope you can join us. Please let us know if you are coming.
Tchus,
Steve Millman
